Kenai River Fly Fishing Adventure
Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden
Drift through eight miles of prime trout water on the Kenai River aboard a spacious 20-foot powerboat, designed for comfort with a two-angler limit per boat. This ensures plenty of room to set up your cast and battle trophy-sized Rainbows.
Two Primetime Rainbow Trout Weeks to Choose From
Week One: September 28 โ October 4
The early season is all about nymph fishingโdrifting beads under a strike indicator to mimic the loose salmon eggs these trout gorge on before winter. While nymphing is the most effective approach, there are also opportunities to swing flies or spey cast for aggressive takes.
Week Two: October 5 โ 11
As the Kenaiโs water levels drop, long gravel bars emergeโperfect for swinging flies. Weโll continue nymphing with beads and flesh flies but also target big trout with leeches, intruders, and the legendary Dolly Llama. The thrill of a tight-line grab from a massive Kenai Rainbow is unmatched.
Trophy Trout Await
Kenai Rainbows reach peak fitness this time of year, with fish averaging 22โ25 inches and the chance to hook into a true giant approaching 30 inches or more. These powerful fish will test your angling skills with blistering runs, head shakes, and sheer strength.
With years of experience running week-long trout trips on the Kenai, weโve welcomed many returning guests, all chasing that once-in-a-lifetime catch. Will this be your year to bring the giant to the net?
