Do you love chasing wild steelhead? If trekking up remote streams in wild country sounds awesome, then this trip is for you. Southeast Alaska holds a fishery so amazing, the scenery nearly overshadows the fishing—and that’s quite a statement.

Next spring, join us aboard the 84’ M/V Alaska Legend, a fully outfitted liveaboard yacht charter built for a guided steelhead fishing adventure. A 26—foot boat ride in an out of Wrangell, AK takes us to the yacht. This is not just a fishing trip—it’s a pilgrimage into one of the last truly wild steelhead experiences left on earth. I’ve fished these waters more than a few times, yet every trip still feels like the first—new streams, new anchorages, and the chase all over again.

Live the Journey

Words don’t do this trip justice—you have to see it to believe it. Each day, you’ll have access to multiple steelhead streams directly from the yacht. The M/V Alaska Legend serves as your floating lodge for the week. Strategically anchored in the most scenic of canals; you’ll be surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and wildlife—Southeast Alaska sets the backdrop for the steelhead trip of a lifetime.

The Crew & Daily Rhythm

The crew keeps things easy. They’re laid back, dedicated, and a pleasure to spend time with—equally at home swapping stories as they are preparing meals or dropping pots for fresh seafood. With them handling the logistics, your only real concern is which fly should you fish tomorrow.

After breakfast, board the jet boat or skiff and head upstream. Sometimes you rip through water only inches deep—reaching places few anglers ever touch. We’ve spent years exploring these systems—wading the runs, finding the snags, dialing in the flies. When the fishing begins know that you’re with some of the most die hard and dedicated steelhead fisherman out there!

The Fishing

This is not your classic “swing a fly” trip with Spey rods wading long runs. Here on these smaller streams, we nymph with indicatorsswing with single-hand rods, and everything in-between. This isn’t a numbers game, and that’s part of the charm. Some days you hike a ways to find one resting fish. Other days, you hit the first hole above the tide line and find a fresh pod of chrome steelhead, only hours from the salt. And if you’ve never hooked a true dime-bright steelhead fresh from the ocean—you better check yourself before you wreck yourself  I like to say. These fish peel line like bonefish, straight into your backing, and leave you wrecked often times. After that… well, steelhead fishing may never feel the same again.

Why Join This Trip?

This is not a rushed experience. It’s a steady exploration of wild country and wild fish.

Guided steelhead fishing in the untouched waters of Southeast Alaska is where it’s at! Hundreds of streams—some with runs of barely a hundred fish—is where the hunt begins. Join us for a full week aboard the yacht M/V Alaska Legend as we search out new, productive steelhead streams. Each day we’ll access new water and put our fishing skills to good use. One canal we may check out on the exploratory trip is one I have fished and had no trouble locating fish.

Your Adventure Begins

This trip is set aside specifically for an early-season exploratory adventure. Same yacht, same amenities, same mission—just a smaller crew and more adventuring. Each day we will move the yacht to head up another stream. We’ll fish until our hearts are content then head back to the yacht for great dining and comfortable accommodations.

A Trip Like No Other

I’d love to share this experience with you and show you why I’m obsessed with steelhead in this corner of Alaska. And one of the best parts? The price is $3,300 off. Why the deep discount? Simple—we’re running a lighter crew, covering new ground, and helping the captain search for the next best Southeast Alaska guided steelhead fisheries. He needs anglers yearning to explore…and that’s where we come in.

Cast the First Flies

If you want to be among the first to cast flies through truly untouched Steelhead water—and maybe discover chrome where no one else has—this is the trip. Join me for this guided steelhead fishing adventure!
